Book Excerpts "Radical" TranscendentalismThe Non-"Religious", Post-"Scientific", by Avatar Adi Da Samraj
from the introduction to In Part Two of "Radical" Transcendentalism, Adi Da summarizes the fundamental elements of the life-practice of the Reality-Way of Adidam He has Given: "radical" devotion, right life, and "Perfect Knowledge". These three are the simultaneous demonstration of the "coincidence" of Adi Da's devotee with His Direct Reality-Revelation, inherently free from illusions and seeking. The tacit, non-verbal heart-response of devotion to Adi Da Samraj, based on heart-recognition of Him as the Divine Reality-State, is (from the beginning and always) the basis of Adidam. To live that Way in its fullness is to extend devotional recognition of Adi Da Samraj into an active response of every aspect of the being — "inner" and "outer" — via a comprehensive discipline of right life. The life of Adi Da's devotee is converted from the habit-patterns based in identification with the separative body-mind to the disposition of all action as service to the Divine Heart-Master and His Liberating Work. There is no impulse to seek or attain anything by means of this comprehensive life-discipline — rather, right life is only the extension of heart-Communion with Avatar Adi Da into all dimensions of one's functional existence. The heart-responsive enactment of right life serves to magnify the intuition of Truth that is inherent in devotion to Adi Da Samraj. Thus, His Revelation of "Perfect Knowledge" is ever-magnified — at first via a preparatory practice (described in the essays at the end of Part Two) and, ultimately (by His Grace) as Perfect Identification with His "Bright" Divine State (in the "Perfect Practice", described in Part Four).
Adi Da's schema of seven stages of life (see the adidam.org website) is another foundational element of His Communication in this book. As He Reveals, the Great Tradition of human religious and Spiritual endeavor is founded on the structures and processes inherent in the human being.
In His description of the first six stages of life, Adi Da illuminates how the pursuits of religion and Spirituality (both Eastern and Western) are focused in different dimensions of the human structure — either the gross or the subtle or the causal dimension of existence, oriented either "outward" or "inward". By contrast, the Reality-Way of Adidam is the "seventh stage Way" — a process that is, from the beginning and always, not based on any gross, subtle, or causal structure of the body-mind, but on direct and free heart-response to the Perfect Divine Reality Itself, Revealed in and as the bodily Form of Adi Da Samraj. That heart-response is not founded in an effort of the body-mind, but simply in "continuity" with the Self-Realizing Force of Reality Itself, Which Is Avatar Adi Da's Blessing-Gift. The Gift of Perfect FreedomThe writings in this book speak pristinely of the seventh stage process Adi Da has Given, with but passing reference to the presumed "problems" of the ego-illusion. And, yet, this book also describes a complete way of living, touching every aspect of human existence. In the Reality-Way of Adidam, it is possible to live on the basis of the "Perfect Knowledge" of Reality in the context of apparent "self" and "world". It is possible to know the Transcendental and Spiritual Truth through Adi Da's Transmission-Gift. Adi Da Samraj is Himself the Demonstration of Reality Itself, Perfectly Coinciding with a human appearance. This book offers us the choice that is, in some sense, required by Adi Da's Mere Presence: Will we respond to His Revelation of Reality Itself, and allow Reality Itself to Manifest Its Own Awakening in us? To choose His Way is, no doubt, a profound commitment — one that requires the relinquishment of every "method" human beings have ever used to explain and maintain a "point of view" in the midst of a "world". But the Reality-State of Adi Da Samraj is measurelessly Attractive — the wordless Freedom prior to birth and death and the entire "game" of life in between. To come into the Company of this Master of Perfect Means is a Grace beyond compare.
