Book Excerpts "Radical" TranscendentalismThe Non-"Religious", Post-"Scientific", by Avatar Adi Da Samraj
from the introduction to On January 21, 2007, at His Island-Sanctuary in Fiji, Avatar Adi Da formally addressed His devotees — those in residence and those living throughout the world — via an Internet broadcast. This was unusual, as more than a year had passed since Adi Da had formally gathered with devotees to answer questions about the Reality-Way of Adidam. But, as He Spoke on this occasion, sitting in a sacred hall adjacent to His residence, He immediately made plain that this was not an event in which He would answer questions. In fact, His Statement that night — which became the essay "'Radical' Adidam" in this book — was a declaration of His Adherence to a unique and pure "methodology":
In other words, in the context of Adi Da's "Radical" Reality-Way, the "ends" do not "justify the means", as it is commonly said. The "ends" cannot even be sought, because they are never absent — and the right "means" is only That Which would Itself be Realized. As Adi Da further describes in "Perfect Dis-Illusionment", Reality and the Realization of It cannot be "caused" — by a presumed "God" or any one else — because the very notion of "cause" presumes a fundamental separation between "that which causes" and "that which is caused". What is required is not any "method" to change our bodies or minds, but only the absolute clarity of recognizing Reality directly. Reality Itself Is the only means to Realize Reality Itself. This may sound like a philosophical Möbius strip to the mind that believes in "subjective" and "objective" realities — but when one is availed of the Non-separate Revelation of Reality Itself in the Company of Avatar Adi Da Samraj, there is no question about this Truth. Thus, a principal theme of "Radical" Transcendentalism is that we must directly encounter the Truth of our existence, through the direct Revelation-Word of — and, most essentially, the direct heart-relationship with — the Realizer of Reality Himself, Adi Da Samraj, Who silently Embodies and Transmits and Is the True Reality-State.
Another Communication Adi Da Samraj made on that night in January 2007, and makes in this book, is a summary vantage on the history of His Work. The many years Adi Da spent Teaching people in the context of their questions and apparent problems were in some sense necessary — they gave Him the opportunity to generate the body of His Teaching-Word and His Instructive Lessons — but truly only because they show, beyond a doubt, that no such active efforts of compassionate "skillful means" are effective in bringing anyone to Realization. Avatar Adi Da's True Function as Spiritual Master is not to teach or somehow magically "cause" Realization in His devotees, but, rather, to simply Be — as He Is, as the Divine Reality-State — and thus make available to unillumined human beings the Direct Revelation of Reality Itself. It is His Revelation Itself that Awakens us. Therefore, the "laws" of the relationship to Adi Da Samraj (now fully established, and summarized by Him in Part Two of this book) are based on the necessity to recognize and relate to Him as the Perfect Means for Reality-Realization. If we relate to Him as anything else, we are merely seeking illusions and consolations from Him — things He cannot and does not Give.
